Many thanks to the families who attended our Sharing Success day last Friday. Parents/ carers were able to celebrate their child's progress by looking through their Learning Journey. A couple of our parents (who shall remain un-named!) even shed a tear when they saw how far their children have come this term!
We recently held our popular 'messy play' workshop, where parents/ carers learnt about the benefits of messy/ sensory play in children's development. Families explored the different textures of corn flour, moon sand, slime and playdough and learnt how early mark making can be developed through messy play.
Children at THNS have been interested in 'The Gruffalo' and as a Friday treat, we made Gruffalo crumble and ate it with owl ice cream! We've also created our own Gruffalo scene where the children can re-tell the story using exciting props.
As part of our Black History Month celebrations, we welcomed Jane Grell to THNS who told traditional African stories and sang 'call and response' songs with our children. Many thanks to all the parents/carers who also attended to share this experience with us. We all had a fabulous day!
Please join us for our 'Making Maths Games' information session next Wednesday 18th October at 12.45. This FREE family learning event is being led by CALAT and will run for 4 weeks after half term. Speak to your child's keyworker for more information or click here.
THNS is holding a half price book fair from Monday to Wednesday this week. We have a huge range of books for sale so come and grab a bargain! All proceeds raised will go to support the children at THNS.
Thanks to the parents who attended our gardening club yesterday. We discussed our plans for this term and decided which seeds/bulbs we'd like to plant with our children, such as herbs, vegetables and spring flowers. We'll soon be asking parents/ carers to kindly make donations (seeds, wellington boots, tools etc) so please look out for posters with more information.
Our Macmillan coffee morning/ afternoon was a great success! We raised over £150 for this very worthwhile cause. Many thanks to our families for donating cakes for us to sell and to Karen E and Nadia for leading this event.
We celebrated National Poetry Day at THNS by inviting our parents/ carers in to share poems using props at the beginning of their child's session. Families were given poems to read at home and enjoy. Our children loved sharing rhymes and poems with one another!
