Parents into Reading Workshop

Our 'Parents into Reading' workshop was successful this morning and we hope that our parents and carers feel encouraged to test out new ideas when reading with their children.

Mud Kitchen now open!

Our new 'Mud Kitchen' is now open in our 3 and 4 year old outside area. Please ensure that your child has a spare set of old clothes and wellington boots as they will definitely be getting muddy!

The Big Draw

Children and Parents/ Carers at THNS had a great time taking part in this years 'Big Draw'. They explored mark making using a variety of media and resources.

International Evening at THNS

THNS hosted a fabulous International Evening, celebrating the many different cultures our of families. A BIG thank you to everyone who attended and brought food from their home cultures for us all to share. Children from Ecclesbourne Primary School entertained us with their fantastic Djembe drumming and our children were able to have a go for themselves. Thank you to all the staff who worked so hard to organise this event.

Harvest Collection

We collected lots of food and toiletries for Harvest this year and have donated them all to 'Croydon Nightwatch', to support local people and families. Thank you to everyone who contributed!

National Poetry Day 8th October

To celebrate National Poetry Day, we invited parents/carers to come in and read short poems and rhyming stories with the children. We decided to focus on the author Nick Sharratt, as his books and rhymes are short, catchy and fun! We also had a focus poem ‘Everybody has a Name’ which fitted into the theme of Black History Month, symbolising that we are all special and unique.

Macmillan coffee morning and afternoon tea

A HUGE thank you to everyone who supported our Macmillan coffee morning and afternoon tea. Thornton Heath Nursery raised a fantastic £130! Thank you to all the families, children and staff who made and donated cakes for us to sell.

Jeans for Genes Day 2015

A BIG thank you to everyone who supported the 'Jeans for Genes Day' charity. We raised nearly £50 for a very worthwhile cause. Well done!
