Yesterday, our nursery was filled with joy and creativity as we welcomed families to our annual Winter Craft Day. Parents and carers joined their children in a cosy, festive atmosphere, working side by side to make beautiful homemade decorations to take away and treasure.
Our staff carefully planned a range of inviting activities that naturally supported children’s fine motor development, early mathematical thinking, language and communication, and expressive arts and design. It was a lovely chance to highlight the rich learning that happens every day through our play-based approach.
Throughout the session, children, parents, carers — and even a few younger siblings — eagerly got stuck in, crafting Santa stick puppets, sparkling snowflake ornaments, Christmas wreaths, festive paper chains, decorated Christmas trees, cotton-ball snowmen and speedy racing reindeer. The tables were alive with glue, glitter, sequins and paint, adding extra magic to every creation!
Flour flew (in the best possible way) as families mixed salt to make salt-dough decorations, added scents and colours to make soft, festive playdough, and blended syrup and spices to form delicious gingerbread dough.
It was a heart-warming, hands-on morning full of creativity, laughter and shared moments — one that truly celebrated the joy of learning together.
