Healthy Packed Lunch Guidance
Thornton Heath Nursery School recognises a healthy diet as an essential part of the school day.
We understand that a healthy diet plays a vital role in developing the whole person, ensuring that children have healthy bodies and minds.
Parents/carers of children bringing packed lunches are encouraged to provide children with packed lunches which conform to the Food and Drink policy which can be found here. We do recognise that some children, particularly those with SEND have restrictive diets and that parents will choose to provide food in their packed lunch that they prefer to eat.
The school works with parents/carers with the aim that the packed lunches that they provide abide by the guidance outlined in the NHS Eatwell Guide found here.
Parents are also provided with our “Lunch Time” leaflet at the point of admission which details our lunchtime routine, introduces our lunchtime supervisors and also offers advice about what a healthy packed lunch should contain. The leaflet can be found here.
