This week, we welcomed new friends to the THNS community. Our established children stepped up to not just welcome, but support their new friends to separate from their carers and begin to access the wonderful spaces and resources at Thornton Heath Nursery School.
Throughout the week, our garden’s tomatoes have ripened and been eaten; whether chopped and sprinkled onto crackers, halved and popped straight into little mouths or squashed and scattered on bubble bread pizza bases, they have been enjoyed by a majority of the children. Having planted the seeds together in April, this is a vital and delicious experience of life cycles! Next week, we shall be setting aside some seeds to be planted next year.
Sunflower seed heads have been gathered and hung to dry, we will observe these throughout the year and gather the seeds for planting in the spring.
In other news, the playdough station became a branch of The Royal Mint, with coins being cut and counted. Our Friday puppet show featured The Gruffalo and a conker gobbling mouse…next week the small climbing and balancing equipment shall be making an appearance and there may be a pumpkin ready for harvest and roasting!
