Schools across Croydon have joined together to raise much-needed funds to help provide equipment, resources and other essential items for schools in Jamaica affected by Hurricane Melissa. As many of you will know, Croydon has a large Jamaican community, and many of our staff and families have been directly or indirectly impacted by this devastating event.
Today, the children, staff and families at Thornton Heath Nursery School showed wonderful solidarity and kindness. Everyone was invited to wear the colours of the Jamaican flag and make a donation towards the borough-wide fundraising effort. The nursery was filled with the uplifting sounds of Caribbean music, and the children enjoyed using their mark-making skills to create large Jamaican flags in our outdoor learning area.
Croydon schools together aim to raise £5,000 to support the relief work. We are delighted to share that, thanks to your generosity, our nursery contributed just over £106 today.
Thank you for helping us make a meaningful difference.
