Pizzas, Dens and Snakes on a Beach

Role playing in the garden saw scientists stalked by polar bears, snakes and Komodo dragons. Children’s scientific knowledge was expressed and developed beautifully through play as polar bears sought fatty seals in order to build their fat stores to survive the cold, Komodo dragons used their tongues to sniff out their prey and snakes struggled to see the clever iguanas… who take advantage of the snakes poor eye sight by staying still before escaping across the playground.

Fabrics and pegs were put to fabulous use throughout the week as tents and dens were constructed before parties and raucous fun were had within.

Pizza paradise continued from last week; with focus and precision displayed.  Gross and fine motor skills, understanding of the world, communication and language were all exercised, developed and consolidated through a shared, fun experience.
Over the course of the week, the children brought together raw ingredients; counted, sorted, mixed and discussed. All culminating in a delicious snack time! Notice the focus being displayed by both the active child photographed and their friends who are learning alongside through the shared experience and close observation.
