This week, Ladybird class have been exploring the natural materials that have been brought in by the parents. They have had the opportunity explore the different textures they could feel on fir cones, acorns and conkers. This has enriched the language within the setting, with lots of new vocabulary as the materials were named and described by both the children and the educators. We used the conkers in the water play, observing and using the language around sinking and floating. We also gathered several different leaves from the garden using wax crayons and paper to create rubbings which turned out amazingly.
This week, the children decorated their salt dough ginger bread men, choosing from a selection of paints and glitter. We have also made our ginger bread biscuits this week. The children had to really focus, and were supported to complete these tricky tasks with some fantastic results for snack time!
