This week, the chicks were big and strong enough for the children to hold if they wanted to. A few children at a time were taken to hold or stroke the chicks. While most children were happy to do this, some preferred just to observe. They were very gentle and used small voices to avoid frightening the chicks. This has been an amazing experience for the children, providing an opportunity that some may not have had before. The joy and excitement on their faces were truly heart warming to see. Well done to all of Ladybird class for listening well and being very gentle with these babies. The care and attention they showed towards the chicks were exceptional, and it was a delight to witness such a positive interaction. This hands-on experience has not only given them a memorable moment but also taught them the importance of being gentle and caring.
On Wednesday, we held a parent and child ‘Let’s Take Learning Outside’ play event. The event took place outside and, luckily, the weather was kind to us, allowing us to just about miss the rain. Around 50% of our parents and carers attended, which was great! The outside learning environment was set up with various messy play and outdoor activities, including coloured spaghetti, salad spinning art, and our glorious mud kitchen. Children used their hands, paintbrushes, chalks, and sticks to create marks around the playground. Our mud kitchen provided opportunities for making mud pies and delicious mud cakes, while our sand play trays were busy with children enjoying sieving sand, using sand moulds, and building sandcastles. Our firm favourites, playdough and water play, were as popular as ever. We also had a storytelling corner where children and parents could enjoy reading together.
We wanted to show the parents different activities they can easily participate in with their children to help enhance their child’s learning at home and when out and about with them.
