Goldsworthy creators

This week the children were introduced to the work of Andy Goldsworthy. Goldsworthy is an artist-environmentalist who creates site specific work in both natural and urban landscapes.  Amongst the materials he uses are stone, wood and foliage. His fascinating work speaks of the connectivity between our emotions and our environments both natural and man-made.

We looked at some of Goldsworthy’s work, we found different recourses from our natural materials section and the children carefully collected the leaves of different plants to use.

With a guiding adult, the children arranged their creations using their selected materials. Later in the week, we got together as a whole class and created a large collaborative master piece!

The children have really worked hard and focused well throughout this activity and it shows in the thoughtful creations produced. Well, done Ladybird class.
