This week it was decision time for the Thornton Heath Nursery Community. Maria and Matty have donated a deluxe fish tank and fish to the school and the fish seemed to be sick and tired of being called “The New Fish”… so it was naming time. On Monday, the children and adults put together a list of suggested names for a short list to be put together. With many children arguing passionately for the fish to be named after themselves, a top three was put together:
Pancake
Scooby (Doo)
Paddington
From this list of three the children voted for their favourite in Tuesday’s group time. What should have been a simple count turned into a fiasco, as Paddington won the morning vote and Pancake won the afternoon’s.
So on Wednesday, the Sunshine Room became an official polling station with Nursery Children, Parents, Carers and Siblings each entitled to vote as they see fit. They even had a chance to meet “The New Fish” in order to get an impression of our new pet’s personality .
Happily, the vote was clear on this second attempt and there was a clear winner.
So, Gaby the fish now has a partner…Gaby meet Pancake!
