A friend’s new hair style inspired a role play hair salon this week. Combs and brushes, straighteners and hair pieces were busy adding volume, texture and an air of glamour to THNS.
A delivery of compost has meant that the final planting out has taken place. All the chillies, tomatoes and sunflowers are now in our planters and pots…to the mercy of the elements and the creatures of the wild…
Bug hunting in the garden has become particularly fruitful…woodlice, centipedes, ants, slugs and snails…but easiest to spot of all is the infestation of aphids. We have learnt that these little creatures bite our plants to drink their sweet juice…they are aided by the ants who move them from plant to plant and even protect them from the hungry ladybirds…all in exchange for a drink of the sweet juice the aphids collect. Caterpillars have also been spotted, along with some large beetles…research has taught us that they are lesser stag beetles and lovers of rotten wood…making new soil in our bountiful garden!
A highlight of the year has come around…it’s egg hatching time! Next week we take delivery of 10 eggs which we will care for and observe prior to their hatching during the week. Will all 10 hatch?…
