This week saw construction of Thornton Heath Nursery School’s first ever wormery!
Recycling storage containers, Emma and the gang got busy with the power tools.
The plan is to compost all of our vegetable and fruit waste with the help of some wriggly friends. A valuable learning experience in terms of knowledge and understanding of the world, whilst also learning about how…and more importantly taking steps to protect the world we are learning about!
Cardboard has been laid next to our log pile in the hope of drawing out some tiger worms over the weekend. We have learnt we need top soil worms to eat up kitchen scraps, rather than their deep burrowing earthworm cousins. Fingers crossed for Monday!
