Blooming Marvellous!

This wet week has benefitted our garden massively. After being drenched in sun for two weeks, our beanstalks, sunflowers, strawberries and pumpkin plants were in serious need of the sort of watering only a torrential downpour can provide. The turnip plants are looking set to produce the sort of vegetables for which the harvest will require a team to pull them from the ground!

We said farewell to Father Joshua, who is off to lead a new congregation in Wembley. We shall miss hearing him ring the bells of St Alban’s during our morning sessions.

At the end of the week, there was further drama in the garden as several poppy plants bloomed, attracting dozens of fuzzy bumble bees. The children enjoyed observing the bees, whilst (as with all creatures in our garden) being careful not to disturb them. It was interesting to compare the bees to our much smaller friends the miner bees.
