Rain, Hail…and Shine!

Our resident ladybirds are active and adding a further splash of colour to the garden! Early in the week the children observed the beetles eating their favourite aphid snacks. The aphids are swarming thanks to the ants who care for them and move them from plant to plant. They do this in exchange for the sugary sap the aphids excrete from their backs. A fascinating process all unfolding before the children’s eyes.

Bubble bread was back on the snacktime menu, with Kamile and her busy baking group taking the lead.

Towards the end of the week, the garden took a hailstone hammering. The next day the children inspected the damage. Thankfully, none of our plants were lost despite some leaves being pierced by the little lumps of ice.
