Last week, Thornton Heath Nursery School’s parent governor, Aracelly Idowu, launched the monthly parents coffee morning. Despite the snowy weather, many parents joined her for a very welcome hot drink and slice of cake. It was a fantastic opportunity for parents to meet other parents and just have a chat. It was also very productive as parents discussed areas with which they would like to have the opportunity for further workshops in order to help them support their children’s learning. These included: more reading, phonics, writing, maths and music and advice on how to manage difficult behaviour. They have also thought about linking their coffee mornings to different themes. For example, safety at home, healthy eating, visiting local primary schools and preparing our children for primary school. If you have ideas that you would like to share, please come along next month 3/3/15.
