What a wonderful day we have had today. The children and their families have enjoyed a winter sing-a-long in the beautiful St Alban’s Church. Parents and families met us at the nursery and we made a short (but cold) journey to the church where Father Sean and Jenny were there to greet us. The church was warm and welcoming, the Christmas tree was sparkling with twinkly lights and glittery baubles and the advent candles were proudly on display. After our “You’re welcome here today song” we sang our way through an ensemble of wintery songs accompanied by floating scarves and jingle bells. Our voices echoed around the church, magnifying lyrics about little snowmen, a twinkling Christmas star, Santa getting stuck in a chimney and snowflakes softly falling from the sky. Our parents and families joined in with resounding renditions of “Jingle Bells” and “We Wish You A Merry Christmas”. Father Sean brought our sing-a-long to a close with some kind words and he rang the church bell 12 times for us – I expect many people in the Thornton Heath community would have heard the bells and probably wondered what was going on !!!
