Over the last two weeks, the children have been very busy. We have read and listened to the story of ‘The three little pigs’. The children then made the three different houses using different materials to reflect the different houses in the story. Working together the children retold the story and recorded their favourite parts using their mark making skills. Using interactive “speech bubbles” they verbally recorded some of the repeated phrases from the story such as “I’ll huff and I’ll puff and blow your house down!” The children were fascinated when they heard their own voices being played back to them. They have painted their own representations of pigs and wolves and have used puppets to re-enact the story themselves. The children wanted to build their own house made from bricks so we became builders for the day! They mixed sand and water together to make concrete and used it to “cement” the bricks together. I wonder if the big, bad wolf would be able to blow this house down!
