What can you see?

This term we have been focusing on the artist Vincent Van Gogh. The children had the opportunity to paint pictures of sunflowers inspired by Vincent Van Gogh’s famous painting. All the children were happy to join in with the activity, they had support to create their master pieces with the adult helping them to focus closely on the shapes and colours in the painting. The children listened well to the adult and followed instructions. Most of the children focused for an extended period of time and this is apparent in the quality of the work they have produced. Well done Children!

This week the children have been listening to a new story ‘Shark in the park’. They are really enjoying this, a little boy goes to the park with his new toy a telescope and each time he looks through it he thinks he can see a shark. The children have made their own telescopes this week to use in the garden next week. They will look through their telescope and tell the adult what they can see… I wonder if there will be any sharks in our garden? This activity will help the children develop language and understanding skills.

We dug up our potato plants this week and were very pleased with the crop we harvested. The children were fascinated to see the potatoes come out of the soil. Next week we will be using our home grown potatoes to make some potato wedges.
