Thank you for loving me.

It has been an exciting week for Ladybird class. We have had World Book Day and have been preparing for a special day on Sunday for our mummy’s and carers.

For our World Book Day, we all dressed up as characters from a book or comic. We had a Hungry Caterpillar, Lion from Dear Zoo, Princess Jasmine, Pirates, Princesses, Batman and Spiderman. The adults dressed up as well to join in with all the fun. There were several familiar books and props out around the nursery room and the parents were invited in to share a book or more with the children. It was so nice to see so many parents attend this event and not only share a book with their own child but others. The children really enjoyed this although there were a few tears when their grown up left but the staff were able to settle them back down and continue the fun.

There is a special day coming up this Sunday so the children have been very creative, they have made cards and have been cooking to make this day more special for their grown-ups. For cooking this week, we made lemon heart biscuit’s and decorated them with icing and lots of sprinkles. The children needed to listen and follow the instructions the adults gave to them. They measured out the sugar, butter, lemon juice and flour first, then mixed them together until they were crumbly. Then they added the egg a little bit at a time until all the ingredients were combined and formed a soft dough. The children rolled out the dough and then used a heart cutter to get the shape they needed. Once the biscuits were cooked they were left to cool, then the icing and sprinkles were added on top and they were put in the fridge to harden. The children got to take a biscuit and their card home to give to their special grown up. We hope you enjoyed this and it makes your day even more special.

If you enjoyed your biscuit perhaps you could make some more with your child. You can find the recipe here.
