We have started to use our new self-registration name board in the Nursery. Each child has a name card featuring a photo of themselves as a first step to recognising their names in writing. When the children arrive for their Nursery session they are encouraged to find their name card and to move it from the leaf to the flower that says, ‘I am here.’
This week, Ladybird class have started their Christmas crafts. We have applied paint in different ways… with tools and our hands and fingers!
The children have all had the opportunity to represent their name through mark making. This gives the opportunity for the children to develop their hand strength and hand eye coordination… as well as experiencing the satisfaction and pride of completing a tricky task!
The children have been practicing the Christmas songs which we shall be singing at St Alban’s for the Winter Singalong with Father Joshua, Father Sean and our parents and carers. If you hear your child singing some festive songs, do join in!
And finally the cold weather has arrived, it has been very icy this week and we have had to put down lots of salt to melt this so the children and adults do not slip. The children showed lots of curiosity when they saw this on the ground and were asking the adults what it was.
Experiencing and discussing seasonal changes is an important part of our curriculum. The children access the outdoors in an appropriate way throughout the year; please support us to enable this by providing appropriate clothing and footwear.
