This week we invited parents and carers to join us in some Christmas Crafting. We have decorated salt dough stars for our “Twinkle Twinkle Christmas Star” inspired tree; one of our entries into St Alban’s Christmas Tree Festival. Ornaments, cards and decorations were all snipped, tied, glittered and sequined…creating keepsakes for our families to dust off and admire each December for years to come!
Snack time looked rather different this week, with snack being both prepared and shared in our group time. We found that conversation over snack time was more measured, with an adult taking lead initially, before taking a more administrational role in the proceedings. Educators reported that children shared anecdotes from home, healthy eating tips as well as observations on the taste, texture and smell of the food on offer. We plan to include this format of snack time within our routine as a further chance for keyworkers to model conversational language, develop listening as well as speaking skills and etiquette; from passing the food, to the all important Ps and Qs!
