Last week saw…
Jackie’s popcorn machine in action, giving the children the chance to practise our favourite “Popcorn Kernels” song as well as enjoy a delicious treat. The children counted the seconds it took for the kernels to pop and discussed what was happening as things heated up inside the machine.
Snack time also saw a jammy treat in the middle of the week, as bubble bread was replaced by jam on toast. The independent children of Thornton Heath Nursery School spread their butter and jam before enjoying a tea party all together in a thoroughly civilised affair, before retiring to do their own washing up. Developing social , physical and life skills all whilst having a sweet, fruity treat.
A band of musicians was in residence for much of the week with our musical instrument area being enhanced with guitars, a drum kit and keyboard. From gentle melodies to hard hitting, rock inspired numbers there was something for everyone as the children experimented with sound in small groups, pairs and independently.
The week finished off with Coach Debbie introducing the children to the joys of volley ball and many children adapting their footballing instincts accordingly!
