Our Ladybird children have been focusing on the book “Handa’s Surprise” by Eileen Browne. They have enjoyed it so much that they used it as a focus for three weeks! In this time the children have tasted the fruits from the story, lots of them liked the taste of the soft yellow banana and the round juicy orange. The children weren’t so keen on the creamy green avocado though!
They have printed patterns with the fruits, made paper mache fruits for Handa’s basket and dressed up as Akeyo from the story. “Handa’s Surprise” is now definitely one of our favourite books.
