This week we welcomed a new arrival; our new music maker! The children were excited to try this; they were able to bang the dustbin lids, tap the chimes and honk the horn. After a few days, we thought it might be nice to turn an area of the garden into a sensory area where the children can explore and experience different sounds, textures, sights and smells. The area is welcoming and exciting, giving the children the opportunity to explore and investigate different items. The children are really enjoying this area, as a sensory experience and as a valuable experience of turn taking and shared fun.
The children have been learning how to mix colours. The adults used a book alongside this activity, “Mix It Up” by Herve’ Tullet. The book is interactive, with pages illustrating colours and encouraging the children to mix it up! The children were fascinated by this and really thought they had made these things happen. From the page to painting, the children had the opportunity to blend real paints. Once the children had mixed their colours, they used them to paint a picture. This has given the children the opportunity to develop listening skills and build ability to focus. Well done Ladybird class!
