You will have read in our newsletter that one of our wonderful parents asked us to take part in an exciting new programme designed to bring people together through art, history, dialogue and learning to make racial justice a reality.
We were asked to design and paint a globe sculpture with a theme based around equality and inclusion. At Thornton Heath Nursery School we are very proud of the diversity of the families that attend the nursery, we are also extremely proud of how friendly and caring our children and staff are which is why we always refer to ourselves as a “family”. We designed a globe that celebrates our differences and similarities, focusing on friendships born out of shared interests, familiarity, kindness, memories and laughter.
The globe is to be part of a sculpture trail running across England and Wales with London being one of the host cities. 250 schools have taken part and I believe that THNS is the youngest school involved. The globes will be available to view from 13th August until the end of October 2022, the THNS globe will be installed in The Ritzy, Brixton Oval, Coldharbour Ln, London SW2 1JG.
