This week, the two-year-old room featured a role play Hairdressers/barbers. This gave the children a stimulus to not just play, but also talk around their experiences at the Hairdressers/barbers. The children had lots of fun role playing with their friends styling both adult and children’s hair. The children used brushes, curlers and hairdryers. There were lots of different types of wigs for the children to try on, we had so much fun doing this and looking at the hair styles that would suit us.
The children have had the opportunity this week to retell different stories using props; to finish the week off there was a sensory tuff tray for the ‘Three Little Pigs; this had different textured items along with the props to make it more interesting for the children. Some amazing language was used by the children retelling the story, “Oh no the wolf!”, “Huffy puffy blow house down!” Through enjoying traditional tales, the children build their language skills, have a shared sense of fun and even build understanding of how stories are structured…getting ready for their own story telling and writing in the future!
We hope you all have an enjoyable half term and have lots of fun!
